Tips for Burning Soy Candles
- Keep your wick trimmed to around 1/4"
- Always allow the melt pool to extend to the edges of the jar/tin. The melt pool is the top layer of melted wax. This is done to avoid "tunneling". To get a full melt pool the candle will need to burn around 3 hours.
- Don't burn your candle for more than 4 hours. This ensures the wick does not produce extra carbon and that the jar/tin stay cooler to the touch.
- Don't burn in drafty areas. This helps your candle burn longer. Drafts can cause the flame to burn hotter and bigger.
- Stop burning your candle when there's about 1/4" of left at the bottom. This is for safety. The jar/tin could get excessively hot. The wick tab that holds the wick at the bottom of my candles helps to ensure this.
